BIOGRAPHY

Alfreda Yevette Mitchell, also known as Freda, is a Berkley, California native. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and began singing at the age of five.

Shortly after joining the 100-voice Echoes of Zion Choir, Freda became one of its lead vocalists and later became lead vocalist for the St. John Specials, a group of four young ladies.

Freda began her professional career in 1993, singing her own original material and with gospel greats Emmit Powell and the Gospel Elites, Arvis Strickling Jones, Orlanda Draper, and Lawrence Matthews. She has also shared the stage with actor Rockmond Dunbar and hosted her own TV show, Freda and Success.

In 1991 and 1995, Freda was nominated for the Gospel Academy Award.

 
  Freda has toured France, germany, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Australia, China, and Switzerland, and frequently appears throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

In 1994, she was blessed with the opportunity to sing for President Bill Clinton, and in 1996 was invited to sing for him at Bay Area Rallies, where he requested a double encore. She has sung for the then-Democratic Speaker of the House Willie Brown.

Freda gives thanks to God for blessing her with a voice that deeply touches the heart and lifts the spirit. Her captivating voice and passionate delivery have been described as "an explosion of high energy and emotion ... surely sent from Heaven."

Capable of charming and ministering to audiences with her engaging personality as well as her amazing voice, Freda is destined to do mighty works for the Lord. Here is a voice you are not likely to forget. "Hers is BLESSED of the Father."
